Performing on event grounds
An all around creative, Renée Mak is a local Vancouver circus artist, designer and visual artist. Having started her training in her early 20s with no previous background in a movement art it is through perseverance and a belief that anybody can learn something new no matter their background that she has become the circus artist she is today.
Renée started performing as an aerialist and stilt-walker and now focuses primarily on hula hoops. She has trained in Toronto, Calgary, New York, Spain and England and has had the fortune of training and working as an circus artist with one Vancouver's longest running circus company, The Underground Circus. Most recently, she took part of the Circus Incubator artistic development program which took her Brazil and Stockholm.
You can often catch Renée training handstands at Stanely Park and along the Seawall. When she's not training, you can catch her around the city at tech events and working as a product designer.
