The Nakajima Duo performs a wide range of traditional and modern Brazilian music genres. They draw their influence from the sentimental Choro and Samba music that began in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1900's and the folk music from the North East of Brazil called Forro. They also seek inspiration from modern compositions by the likes of Egberto Gismonte, Marco Perriera and Hermeto Pascoal. While respecting the tradition, Nakajima Duo is always trying to push the boundaries of the music by fusing modern elements of collective improvisation and composition. They have been performing together since 2010 with Yuji Nakajima on Guitar and Liam MacDonald on Percussion-Set. Their Debut album has been released in November 2014. Nakajima Duo performed at Vancouver Jazz Festival 2014.
